Ferntree Gully MP Nick Wakeling today welcomed the completion of the upgrade to the Ferntree Gully Railway Station.
"I was at the station on Wednesday and it looks like the works are completed and should be operational in the coming days," Mr Wakeling said.
"It's fantastic that the station upgrade has finally been completed after years of advocating for a safer environment for residents.
"The upgrades include an indoor waiting area, which will increase comfort for commuters particularly during winter.
"Ferntree Gully residents have been waiting a long time for this upgrade and now they will be able to utilise the facilities.
"The upgrades to the station should make it safer for commuters. Additionally the Victorian Liberal Nationals Coalition's promise to have Victoria Police Protective Services Officers stationed there from 6pm until last train would also significantly increase safety for commuters.
"However until the Brumby Labor Government gets serious about commuter safety, some residents will still feel unsafe using the transport network at night," Mr Wakeling said.
