Recent comments by Labor MP Shaun Leane, stating that a Rowville Rail feasibility study is not the best way to spend the government's pool of money in transport in the Outer East and that it's just too difficult proves that the Brumby Labor Government cannot be trusted to deliver on any election promises.
Local Liberal MP's Nick Wakeling and Kim Wells today slammed Mr Leane's comments stating that they confirmed that the Labor party simply cannot be trusted.
"Shaun Leane's comments are disgraceful and prove that he is completely out of touch with his constituents," Mr Wakeling said.
"Rowville residents clearly want the Rowville Rail feasibility study completed and now Labor has officially walked away from this commitment.
"Shaun Leane and the Labor Government are treating Rowville residents with disdain. They have failed to fulfil their election promise on Rowville Rail and now they are refusing to take the blame saying it's too late and it's too hard. The Labor Party just cannot be trusted.
"They are completely out of touch with the transport needs of the Rowville community," Mr Wakeling said.
"This latest excuse from Shaun Leane confirms that the Labor Party has no intention of delivering new infrastructure in the Eastern Metropolitan Region," Mr Wells said.
"It's another in a long list of broken promises from this Labor Government and it's just disgraceful that they are treating Knox residents in this way.
"Labor's list of broken promises in the outer east is a long one, whether it be the scoresby freeway, Rowville Rail, a 24-hour Rowville Police Station, Lysterfield Road traffic lights, or a tram to Knox, Labor has doled at the promises, but delivered on nothing," Mr Wells said.
