About the Electorate

Ferntree Gully is one of 88 electorates that make up the Legislative Assembly of the Victorian State Parliament, Australia. It is entirely within the municipal boundaries of the City of Knox, named after Sir George Knox, who represented the area as both a Councillor and a State MP for 33 years, including time as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly.

Location: Approximately 27 kilometres east of Melbourne.

Size: 43 square kilometres.

Suburbs: Ferntree Gully, Lysterfield, Rowville (Part), Boronia (Part).

Features: Ferntree Gully District is a residential area at the foot of the Dandenong Ranges. Natural features include Lysterfield Park, the Koolamara Waters wetlands, and the Tim Neville Arboretum. There are numerous football and cricket ovals, several tennis courts, a number of bowling greens, a basketball stadium and two golf courses.
